Diocesan
Catholic Children's Home is
a treatment center for children, ages 6 to 14, who have severe to moderate
emotional and/or behavioral problems. The origins of the Home date back
over 160 years when a group of Kenton Countians met to form the St. John's Orphan
Society. (See History) DCCH has evolved over the
years to meet the changing needs of the community. DCCH's 83-acre campus is
located in Northern Kentucky, in the city of Fort Mitchell,
just off of I-75.
Diocesan Catholic Children's Home Testimonials
“He
has made ‘wonderful progress’ and that is a testament to the
work all of you have done with him.”
-Teacher
who taught a resident before and after his stay at DCCH.
“She
has some ups/downs, overall she is doing so well that the foster family is
working to completing steps towards adopting her. The worker said that the
family already has an attorney and they are finishing up paperwork for
petitioning for an adoption date.”
-DCBS worker regarding former resident.
“They
send as many children as they can to DCCH residential because they are so
impressed with how well the kids do here and much progress they make. They
noted how especially impressed they were with the work that is done in
residential with children who have been sexually abused.”
-TFC staff member recalling
conversation with Fleming
County DCBS Workers
about DCCH
“I
just assumed that all residential facilities were comparable to DCCH. Well,
I was mistaken. After this visit (to another facility) I am even more
impressed with DCCH staff and facility than I already was. For what it is
worth, I think you guys do an incredible job with these kids. I also
believe that these kids are pretty lucky to be at a place that does work so
hard to provide such quality care.”
-Teacher at Guardian Angel
School
“He was
very complimentary about the work we have done with a former resident! He
had read the child’s past reports and could not believe she was the
same child! He also said that we were very easy to work with and voiced
that he wished other agencies were as cooperative as we are!”
-DCCH Supervisor recalling
conversation with a Foster Care
Worker
“He
was dressed up very nicely and had a very nice personality. He was a great
inspiration to Del
and I and he was well behaved and he loved to listen to music… He
laughed and his laughter bought tears of joy to your heart. He was very
mannerly saying please and Thank you at the appropriate times. …he
danced to the movie during transport and he made the trip a very delightful
one. Giving up my Saturday was one of the best work days I have had because
he was a great inspiration for me during the Christmas holiday.”

of our residents
