Ron Bertsch
Ron is the Director of
the Therapeutic Foster Care and Adoption Program at the Children's Home. He
started in April, 1999. He has written policy and set procedures for the
new program. A primary focus is to find homes for the children ready to
leave the residential and crisis stabilization units of the home. The
program will also work with other children referred for foster care
services.
Ron comes from the Kentucky's
State Public Agency, in which he worked for over 13 years as a foster care
worker, recruiter and trainer. He graduated from Thomas
More College
with his Bachelor's degree in Social Work and Sociology and his Masters
degree in Social Work from the University
of Kentucky. Ron has
served as a chairperson of the State and Regional Foster Care/Adoption
Recruitment Committee's and was a founding member of The Foster Care
Cooperative, a nonprofit foster care recruitment organization representing
multi-state, public and private social service agencies. He is a certified
instructor for Atlanta's
Child Welfare Institute's Model Approach to Partnership and Parenting -
Group Preparation and Selection and Child Sexual Abuse curriculums.
Ron and his wife, Julie live in Kenton
County with their
five children, of whom four came to them through adoption. He speaks
of the blessings and joy that the kids have brought him. "One of the
highlights of being a daddy is watching their expressions of pride when you
congratulate them on a job well done, like catching a ball or riding their
bike: the hugs make you feel good too." he said.
Ron is now accepting inquiries into foster and foster-to-adopt parenting. Anyone
interested in learning more about foster care or foster parent adoption is
encouraged to call him at 331-2040, ext. 241. or email, ronb at DCCHome dot org
