Residential Treatment Overview Diocesan Catholic Children's home offers long-term treatment for emotionally and behaviorally disturbed children in a small group living arrangements. We provide care for boys and girls, ages 6-14. Our behavior management programs have an emphasis on daily living skills and relationship-building. Services Available Residential Living Our child care staff and social workers maintain an active involvement in the life of each child in a small group living environment. Each child has a separate room monitored 24- hours a day, seven days a week. Emphasis is placed on assisting children to develop positive interpersonal relationships with adults and other children. Counseling Master level therapists provide a combination of individual, family and group therapy sessions designed to meet the individual needs of the child. Our professional staff and available consultants offer a wide range of psychiatric, psychological, and family services. Therapeutic Recreation Our children participate in a broad range of activities designed to emphasize group dynamics and skills. Trained recreation staff supervise activities including sports, games and community activities. Special Education Guardian Angel School, located on the grounds of the Home, is a state certified ED/BD facility offering small, self-contained classrooms with a 2:1 student/teacher ratio. It is operated by Beechwood School District. Referral Process Please call the Diocesan Catholic Children's Home at (859)331-2040 and ask for John Ross. Essential information will be requested to determine the child's appropriateness of placement. We will not accept suicidal, homicidal, chronic runaways, children with physical or mental handicaps, E.G., IQ below 65. A mental status exam will be given at admission. A guardian must be present at the time of admission to sign all the applicable documentation. Payment Children must be committed to the Cabinet for Families and Children. We only accept children committed to the Department of Children Based Services.
