Participants will learn practical applications of managing youth in these stages especially those who are “STUCK” due the abuse or neglect many of them have suffered. The training will also help participants develop skills to successfully manage challenging behaviors and aggression which youth exhibit. Target Audience: Direct Care Staff and Foster Parents. Target Audience: ALL Caregivers Trainer: Jackie Sowells Jenkins FEE: $40/50 Blood Borne Pathogens and Avoiding Disease Transmission Thursday March 11^th, 9:30-11:30am OR 12:30-2pm Training will look at the diseases we need to protect ourselves from, the symptoms they cause, the damage they do to the body and treatments and vaccinations available. Participants will then learn the most effective ways to protect themselves from transmission through fluid contact and what to do if this exposure occurs. Clean up of spills will also be reviewed. Trainer: Timothy Murphy FEE: $25 Safety Strategies and Risk Management Thursday Mar 18^th, 9:30-11:30am OR 12:30-2:30pm Participants will review safety statistics/issues applicable to the field and work place. Then they will apply these to procedures as well as the physical plant to identify issues/concerns. Trainer: Tim Murphy FEE: $25 Conflict Resolution (2 CEU’s) Tuesday Mar 23^rd, 9:30-11:30am This training will focus on strategies of conflict resolution and why these techniques are necessary. Everyone manages emotion, communication and conflict differently because of previously developed patterns and styles. People’s emotion and communication patterns will be examined and how by managing these we can have successful outcomes in negotiation and mediations. Trainer: Tim Murphy FEE: $25/40 Safe Crisis Management Annual Recertification Tuesday Mar 30^th, 8:15am-2:45pm This training will review and evaluate staff’s skills to successfully manage and process with youth who are demonstrating challenging behaviors. Participants will review cognitive traps, defense mechanisms, the types of stress we experience and the conflict cycle. The program will use both didactic and experiential learning components through role-plays and scenarios. Target Audience: All Caregivers. Trainer: Timothy Murphy Crisis Intervention: Prevention/Rapport Building (2 CEU’s) Tuesday April 13^th, 9:30-11:30am Part 1 of a 3 part series of trainings will focus on prevention strategies and recognizing the ‘traps’ that are often set for staff and foster parents.
