Diocesan Catholic Children's home offers long-term treatment for emotionally and behaviorally disturbed children in small group living arrangements. We provide care for boys and girls, ages 6-14. Our behavior management programs have an emphasis on daily living skills and relationship-building.
Residential Living Our child care staff and social workers maintain an active involvement in the life of each child in a small group living environment. Each child has a separate room. Children are supervised 24/7. Emphasis is placed on assisting children to develop positive interpersonal relationships with adults and other children.
Therapy Master level therapists provide a combination of individual, family and group therapy sessions designed to meet the individual needs of the child. Our professional staff and available consultants offer a wide range of psychiatric, psychological, and family services. We provide family therapy over the phone for families significantly far away from The Home and unable to come to our campus.
Therapeutic Recreation Our children participate in a broad range of activities designed to emphasize group dynamics and skills. Trained recreation staff supervises activities including sports, games and community activities.
Academic Program Guardian Angel School is located on the grounds of the Home. It is staffed by Beechwood Independent School District teachers who are Kentucky certified. We offer small, self-contained classrooms with a low student teacher ratio. We support the individual requirements to provide a smooth transition back into a less restrictive school. GA provides 6 hours of daily instruction with an emphasis on individualized support in math and reading.
Psychiatric/Psychological Services Our psychiatrist will meet with your child monthly to assess the possible benefits of using medication to improve the child’s behavior or whether a behavioral intervention is more appropriate. Our psychologist will meet with your child at a minimum of every two months to provide additional assessment information for the treatment team.
